Wisdom teeth (also known as third molars) are the most posterior teeth in your mouth. They sit behind the second molars and in front of the premolars. The initial recovery and healing from a wisdom tooth extraction usually occur over three to five days. After having your wisdom teeth removed, you will likely have some swelling. Even bleeding from the surgical sites and temporary pain is seen as your mouth adjusts to its new state.
